This brick building was built in 1904, according to the cartouche on the top of the building. It is known around town as “The 1904 Building”. It is a three-story building with arched windows on the third floor and the center section of the structure protruding slightly. The roofline is decorated with ornate dentils and other detailed brickwork. The first floor housed the Star Drug Store, with the second and third floors serving as an annex to the Right Way Hotel (which was originally on the corner of Frank Phillips Blvd. and Johnstone Avenue, prior to the Johnstone Building being built in 1910). The building operated as the Avaneda Hotel for forty years after the original Right Way Hotel was moved in 1909.
