The Oklah Opera House was constructed by Jesse Overlees before the streets were paved, so it was difficult for ladies to enter without getting their evening dresses dirty. Crowds of men would gather to watch the ladies lift their dresses and step onto the boards which were laid on top of the mud and dirt. Ruby Darby, the “Queen of the Oil Fields”, often played at the Oklah Opera House. Along with Ruby, the show boasted 16 chorus girls. The Oklah Opera House later became the Liberty Vaudeville and then the Arrow Theater.
