In 1908, Tuesday Club met with the city council and then solicited a grant from the Carnegie Library Foundation for $20,000 to build a library building. The Carnegie Library opened in 1918, with 300 books. It was free to all residents living in Washington County. The two-story brick building has a hipped terra cotta roof. Brick pilasters are by the windows and on the corners. Ionic columns and piers support the pediment porch. The front door has a fanlight transom. There are lintels and window sills accented with a sandstone base. St. Mark's Lions appear on the front entry. In 1928, the public library was moved into the north wing of the Civic Center on Johnstone Avenue, and the Carnegie Building became the administrative offices for the Bartlesville Public Schools until 1974. The Church of Christ bought the building for a short while, then in 1977, the law firm of Kane, Kane, Kane, and Roark bought the building and restored it to the Carnegie Library style.
