Garfield School
The Garfield Grade School, a brick structure built in 1905, was the first permanent grade school in Bartlesville and served the community for many years. The school was closed and demolished to make way for the Bartlesville Community Center.

Bartlesville Community Center
The Bartlesville Community Center was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright’s first student and protégé, William Wesley Peters. Construction was begun in December, 1979, and completed in January, 1982. The design emphasizes the use of sweeping curves, circles, and ovals, with acute and obtuse angles. The exterior earth tone colors are continued inside the Community Center with a large mural, over 25 feet long, depicting a northeastern Oklahoma countryside throughout the four seasons. The cost of the Center including land, construction, furnishings, and equipment was close to $13 million. The building is debt-free and has approximately $3.5 million in an endowment that generates interest to defray operational costs. This 94,000 sq. foot Center houses a 1,700 seat theater with a one-of-a-kind orchestra shell for music concerts, dance performances, and touring Broadway extravaganzas. Also, there are large and small meeting rooms and an art gallery, as well as a Community Hall for large receptions and meetings.
