Barlow Store
127 SW Second Street
On the corner of Keeler Avenue and 2nd Street stands the building which housed the Barlow Store, a general mercantile store. It was later the home of the Jitney Bar, one of the city’s top spots for entertainment and refreshment until the mid-40s. Entertainers at the Jitney included Otto’s German Band, accompanied by “Fritz the German Dog” (a dachshund).

The building has a beveled corner entrance and a roofline traced with limestone. The corners are decorated with quoins and inlaid brick pilasters that divide it into sections. Built in 1907.
