Bar-Dew Hardware - Electrical Theater
114 SE 2nd Street
The building on the left is the Bar-Dew Feed & Grain store, which later
became the Bar-Dew Hardware Store. In 1948, it became John’s True Value Hardware. The building on the right housed a feed store. The
two stores have always been connected by a walk-through. The building has elaborate brick detailing on the parapets with a string
of arched windows on the left with exaggerated keystones. The building on the right has two windows connected by an arch, giving a
different look to the two buildings. The arched door at the center leads to the second floor of both buildings. In the early days,
the second floor offered services less socially redeeming, including a bar, boarding rooms, and a house of prostitution which spanned
both buildings. Both of these buildings were built in 1907.
Larch Harness Shop

the G. F. Larch Harness, Etc., Company. Note the elaborate brick detailing on the parapets and the arches connecting the windows on
the second floor. The first floor has large display windows with a recessed entrance.
