In 1906, William Johnstone donated to the city a lot on Dewey Avenue just north of the city limits for a baseball park. In 1909, a wooden grandstand and fences were built, and the park was used until 1931. On May 2, 1932, the Bartlesville Municipal Stadium was dedicated with a concrete grandstand and concrete fences surrounding it. This stadium, re-named Doenges Memorial Park Stadium, is still in use today and has seen baseball, football, horse shows, circuses, and other events. In 2004 and 2007, the National American Legion World Series was held here.
